Whirlwind Wednesday applications are available at the upstairs entrances of the church for pickup. For more details, contact Blair Coltrane or any member of the Youth Council.
The Youth Council is looking for your recipes to be included in a cookbook to be put together by the Youth as a fundraiser; recipe sheets have been placed at the back entrances of the church for your convenience. We need all recipes by May 3rd.
The Yadkin VFW, Post 10346, is participating in the Overseas Coupon Program and needs your help in collecting manufacturer's coupons for food and non-food items. We cannot accept store brand coupons. We can accept coupons up to two months after the expiration date listed on the coupon. A box has been placed in the library to place coupons in. The ladies will be cutting out the coupons on Monday evenings after the ladies prayer meeting.
This is a busy time of year in the Family Center. Just a reminder that all events, including church events that will be held in the Family Center, needs to be booked by contacting Brenda Adams to avoid scheduling conflicts.
Attention Ladies: All ladies are invited and encouraged to attend the Ladies Prayer Group tomorrow evening, beginning at 6:30pm and will continue each Monday evening at 6:30pm in the Fellowship Hall.
April is the month for honoring the nations Volunteers. Union Cross will be doing the same. Next Sunday during the worship service, we will honor our volunteers. We will have a special guest speaker, Susan Craddock Washabaugh, CHVM. She is the director of Volunteer Services and the Gift Shop at NC Baptist Hospital.
The Youth Council is sponsoring a Chopped BBQ fundraiser this Saturday, April 18th. Included is: Chopped BBQ, baked beans, slaw, rolls & dessert. Tickets are $8 each; you may purchase tickets from any member of the Youth Council, Blair, Carol Susan, Karen, JulieAnn, Grant or Michelle. Ladies: Desserts that are cut and wrapped would be appreciated.
Quarterly Meeting will be help at Brannon Friends on April 19th. There will be no evening services here.
Kidz Spring Fling at Quaker Lake Camp - All kids from preschool to twelve years old are invited to a day of camp activities on April 25th from 11am to 5pm. There will be games, crafts, songs, nature, hayride, cookout and more. The church van will leave at 9:15am. Registration forms are available at the entrances and need to be given to JulieAnn by April 13th. There is no cost! Preschoolers must be accompanied by an adult.
The Creative Aging Committee of the Yearly Meeting has scheduled a trip to the Amish Country around Lancaster, Pennsylvania for June 26th - June 28th, 2009. This trip will leave Union Cross on June 26th around 7:15am. The plays "Abraham & Sarah" and "In The Beginning" will be part of the tour and an Amish Farm House & Quilt Shop or Amish Dairy will also be on the agenda. Several meals and "Hershey's Chocolate World" are also planned. If you have never visited this area or if you would like to go again, this trip with other "Friends" would be great. Pastor Archie is the Yearly Meeting Chairman of the Creative Aging Committee and has all the information or you can see Brenda Adams. The bus holds 45 and approximately 20 have already signed up. Lets have a good number to go from Yadkin Quarter and especially Union Cross. Forms are available at the front entrances.
